The Latin American Journal of Aquatic Mammals (LAJAM) publishes peer reviewed articles on the research, management and conservation biology of aquatic mammals in Latin America. Articles on theory or techniques broadly applicable to aquatic mammals will also be considered, even when the research has taken place outside Latin America.

The Latin American Journal of Aquatic Mammals is pleased to announce the publication of its latest issue, Volume 21, Number 1 (April 2026). This issue features two original articles and five notes covering marine mammal studies from the tropics to the Antarctic regions.

We extend our appreciation to all contributing authors and peer reviewers for their dedication and valuable work in advancing the field. We invite readers and colleagues to explore and share this new issue widely.

Published since 2002, LAJAM is the scientific peer review journal of the Sociedad Latinoamericana de Especialistas en Mamíferos Acuáticos (SOLAMAC). In 2011 LAJAM ceased its print version and became an online-only publication.

LAJAM publishes research articles on the biology, management, and conservation of the aquatic mammals in Latin America. Articles on theory or techniques that are widely applicable to the study of aquatic mammals will also be considered even when the research has taken place outside of Latin America. LAJAM also publishes special volumes dedicated to specific species or topics.
